The display at the Canterbury Museum has received lots of attention. Sometimes we had tours of 80+ people at a time! We’ve talked to lovely people from all over the world and local people interested in butterflies have been encouraged to participate in the Monarch tagging project. As well as the Monarchs there are also larvae, pupae & butterflies of three more species Bassaris gonerilla (Red Admiral) B. itea (Yellow Admiral) and Pieris rapae (White butterfly). The Red Admiral has proven to be particularly popular because it’s wearing Canterbury colours! (Red and black)

Another attraction has been the three precious Lesser Wanderer pupae. Shame I could not have stayed down there to see the gorgeous Lesser Wanderer butterfly emerge.
