I have several one and two year old pink and white flowering varieties of Swamp milkweed that are free to a good home. They are dormant now so if you send me an email to the address below and then a self addressed bubble wrap packet, your choice of plant will be sent to you.

Once received, you will have to pot them up in dampish potting mix/soil to await their sprouting in Spring (mine always pop up 1st week of September here in the Rangitikei) milkweedman_00@yahoo.com

Our plant has sprouted again and we hope to get the plant to flower again this year and perhaps collect from seed from it if we can :)..
May have to net the plant off from the butterflies and caterpillars to get the plant to grow.

In Winter is better once all activity has ceased and all foliage has died down to the soil. The crown divides easily after 3 or so growing seasons.

So how are everyone’s A. incarnata doing? Mine have been great – got decimated by caterpillars and now they’re resprouting. I do want to see the flowers so will have to devise a way of protecting them.

Milkweed – how does one divide the crowns, presumably in the Autumn?

I would have thought so but I’ve never seen the shoots get damaged by frost, only cats of the feline variety and slugs and snails.

Done. I also put them in the garage tonight as frost predicted here. Are the new shoots frost-tender?

Do you still have many left? What size bubblebag would be needed?

Wow, great service thanks ‘milkweed’. I posted you a bubble envelope on Tuesday afternoon, and the crowns arrived in the mail today (Friday).
I guess we will have to grudgingly admit that NZ Post did a good job too 😉

That’s a great offer. I will email you now. I’ve been wondering how I would find some Swamp milkweed to give it a try.

I just posted Tom a pink and white A. incanata crown each and still have a few more free to good homes. As above, just send me an email to the email address above and i’ll give you my physical address to send a self adressed stamped bubble wrap envelope to. cheers.
