    Hi all,

As I have posted in other threads, I had suspected bird attacks on the Admiral caterpillars I had on my Nettles. I also noticed that only 2 of the many unidentified moth caterpillars got to pupation.

I had no shield bugs around so far this season & only squashed 2 mantis’es from the Swan Plants which where in the same pot. The Asian Paper Wasp only attacked (controlled) the Monarchs from my observertions.

I suspect Sparrows have taken Monarchs, esp the young fledglings that don’t know of the alledged ‘bad taste’.

So anyone else had bird attacks?

    Robert.

    Hi Guys & Gals,

I am battling the wasps and the ants with my eggs and pillars. Have had to collect eggs each day and bring inside to hatch, then put under my netted plants.

Gosh never thought about birds too.. Geesssssshhhhhhhhhhhh.

    Cheers

Mmmm, Robert, I have wondered about this too – with Monarchs.
My Swan Plants are healthy and I thought the uncovered ones would be safe from birds, but I do have a lot of fledglings around. And I feed them. Haven’t seen many wasps, many mantises or ants around.
