Is there anywhere in NZ that has a butterfly identification site that one can look up butterflys on.I have seen several different butterflys or moths which I do not know what they are and therefore cannot identify for my trancents.I am only new to this so do not know where to look.

Also why are transects only for the past year,I cannot input 2011 dates?

    thanks

    Brian

    Thanks Jacqui,
I had a couple of transects from March I was going to put in, but the dates of 2010 confused me.

Brian – sorry about the dates on the transects page. We’re getting this fixed ASAP. Will let you know when it’s remedied – although you may see it fixed sooner than me as I’m on the road.

    Cheers

Cannot see it in any of the photos from those two links, closest would be the Burnished brass moth,
But the yellow was really bright and reflective in colour
and stood out on the outside of the wings when folded.
I saw this at the warehouse at THE BASE in Hamilton.
Tried to catch it but it flew off.
Fairly small moth.approx 2.5cm in length.

    Hi Brian,

What did you see then? I figure you would have worked it out from one of those 2 links.

This is good and easy to follow for NZ butterflies and visitors:
