This afternoon, temperature 13-14 degrees I spotted a tattered butterfly on a swan plant. I studied her and lo and behold she laid an egg – never had them this early. Last season I first spotted eggs late August which was the earliest I have had. I found more eggs and attached a small peg to where they were so I can keep an eye on them. Caryl

That’s awesome, what part of Welli are you in?
I found a Monarch out flying and feeding off spring bulbs in central Lower Hutt, Myrtle St park yesterday.
I have a video of it on my fb page The Butterfly Nursery .
