As well as the traditional NZ swanplant, I’ve also grown some asclepias curassavica (common names: bloodflower, scarlet milkweed, tropical milkweed, sunset flower and silkweed). When checking for monarch eggs, I noticed some tiny pale green oval shaped ‘eggs’ on the bottom of the leaves, where I’d expect to find monarch eggs. Have tried looking with a magnifying glass to see if they were tiny bugs, but didn’t see any legs. Does anyone have any idea what they are? Are they friend or foe?

    Hello aj108

There was a discussion in here a week or so ago about other milkweed-loving caterpillars – perhaps this is what you have. Look back a few days/weeks, and also search on the tag “caterpillar” and “milkweed”, the conversation should show up.

    Hope that helps.
