right so I have about 20 survivor cats at the end of the hall in a caterpillar castle. The weather in Karori is a bit colder than anywhere else in Welly and it has now changed to definite winter conditions. So, all going well these cats should pupate in the next few weeks … I’m thinking it would give them the best chance of survival if I just put them in a place where they can overwinter. I’m thinking of our dark, cold laundry ..AND, how should they be stored?

Monarchs only overwinter as adults, not as chrysalides, so your best bet would be to keep them in warm, bright conditions inside, and when they emerge condition them to outside conditions and then release them.
