    We do have trichogramma wasps in New Zealand, of which there are many species. It is recorded that a Forest Ringlet egg has been found parasitised by one.
    Trichogramma wasps are the ultimate in biological control of pests as they stop the pest at the earliest stage – the egg, which of course eliminates the intended caterpillar.
    They have been bred for release in other countries as a biological control.
