Tiny Caterpillars Today in Wellington

This season is very different. I had monarch eggs in late July (usually in late August)and yesterday I noticed my first hatched eggs. They are so very tiny and the weather is awful – 8 degrees at 10 a.m and strong wind. Anyone else in Wellington with tiny cats. I am in Seatoun.

Not even butterflies here in Karori … Nothing seems to be happening in northland either. Higher Welly suburbs are usually late but no sightings at all is unusual.

Interesting, Caryl! Lots of plants up here in Auckland but apart from a few caterpillars nearly full-grown, no eggs around. But at Narrow Neck and Massey (North Shore and West Auckland respectively) I hear they are inundated with caterpillars!

    Always strange, isn’t it?
