Urtica australis – seeds to be planted

    Now that we have U. australis seeds on sale again I’m being asked for planting tips. Please share here! This is the Chatham Islands nettle or southern nettle with its lovely big leaves.

    What I do is get a punnet of potting mix, sprinkle seeds on top then tap the sides of the punnet several times. Moisten mix from underneath and keep moist at all times and out of the direct sunshine. Takes about 4 weeks for germination. The seedlings are extremely small.”
