Hi There Branson, What a wonderful person you are to grow all those swan plants for everyone else to enjoy. I have only recently joined the Trust and am slowly reading thru the past lot of posts you and others have contributed. Your place must be full of thousands of Monarchs in the season. I live in Whakatane and remember visiting a house in Thornton, very close to the beach. On entering the back PADDOCK early one morning, 1000’s of Monarchs were flying around these very large Trees 15-20 (Well I thought they were trees) Now only to realise that they were very Large Swann Plants. They must of been just over 2mtrs high. It was a very beautiful sight to see. It was in our Local paper. Anyway can I purchase some Swan Plant Tree Seeds from you. The larger the better. I hope your still in the market. Maybe I could ring you. Whatever is the easiest. The Trust sells Gomphocarpus physocarpus (Giant swan plant) are they the same? Maybe u supply them now. Anyway hope u get this. Thanks Deb. I had about 150 Monarchs here last yr so hoping for more this season.

Thank You Patz and Darren, I had about 80 that I put on my house and of course they crawled away and then hatched later much to the kids delight. We would watch them everyday and see 4 -5 hatch out at a time. Those ones that were high up on the house we didnt tag. The ones I want to tag are hanging on the Swan plants maybe just coming out and I have to go away for say 2 hrs – I come back and they’re gone. Is there some sort of net that I can gently put over EACH one that is hatching that day so I can tag it when I come back. These ones are out in the open. Also Do u catch other hatched Monarchs with a net? Will I damage them? Deb Thanks Seems like silly Q’s I know.

Hi Patz, Ive just joined and would like a few tips on Catching & tagging the monarchs. I do watch them alot and released about 80 last year, then found out about the Trust. My problem is as Im away when some of them hatch is there something I can put around Each one to contain them until I tag. Im in the Bay of Plenty. Thanks Deb
