This moth is similar to the South Island lichen moth (Declana egregia) but the marks on the wings are greater in number and smaller. It is only found in the North Island.
Surprisingly, the wing markings are asymmetrical.

Dark brown patches on a silver background. Adults can be seen resting on tree trunks, well disguised amongst lichen.
