Adult/Imago
Male has scent scales reaching ends of hindlegs, no tarsi (feet) apparent. Found all year (mainly February to April). Flies at night, attracted to light. More common than D. selenophora.

29 - 38mm
Overwinters
Enters houses in autumn seeking overwintering sites. Overwinters as adult.
Range
North Island (mainly northern and eastern), northern South Island.
Habitat
Parks, gardens, roadsides, weedy areas.
