This moth is larger on average than the very similar G. pannularia, and has no black line on the underside.

Twig-like, with a swollen 3rd pair of thoracic legs. Feeds on a wide host range.
Pupa
Pupates in chamber just under soil surface.
Adult/Imago
Wings less stubby and less scalloped than G. pannularia. No black line under wings. November to May. Rests camouflaged on tree trunks by day. Flies at night, attracted to light.
