Usually recognised very easily by the S-shaped black mark on each forewing.

Wide range of plants, including kahikatea, Camellia, Norfolk Island hibiscus, flax/harakeke, leather-leaf fern, kiwifruit.
Larva
Feeds on living and dead plant material (e.g. dead Camellia flowers, leather-leaf fern fronds, fruit surfaces) from within silken spinning.
Pupa
Pupates in folded-down leaf-edge of host plant.
Adult/Imago
S-shaped black mark on each forewing. Found all year. Can be disturbed from vegetation by day. Active at night, attracted to light.
