Feeds on low-growing plants.

Pupates in leaf litter on ground.
Adult/Imago
Colour varies from pale yellowish brown to blackish brown. Head distinctly paler than thorax. Australasian bird-dropping spider Celaenia excavata lures male moths by exuding sex pheremone that mimics female D. intermixta. Found all year. Flies at night, attracted to light.
